Still Not Convinced
I’m not 100% sold on the idea of maintaining a personal blog again. Maybe it’s the work involved, or maybe it’s some of my shy/introverted aspects peeking through. Perhaps it is feeling like I have “so much to do” that I make excuses to not write anymore. Whatever it is, it needs to end.
At the very least I have an idea I’m pretty excited about related to everything music. I’m going to establish an online journal/magazine type of site dedicated to bits and pieces of information related to music production, social media, and live performance for (primarily) electronic artists. It’s something I’ve kicked around in my head for awhile and heavily echoed by my wife when she points out that I should be writing about my experiences. I have a name picked out.. now to get things going, ‘eh?
On the music front, I’ve been continuing to do a lot of work on my Sliptide mainstay, with some ideas and poking around in the Mrastrong realm. Responses to the two clips and one full track posted on Mrastrong’s SoundCloud page have been positive, so I’m excited to get some lingering projects closed out and released for Sliptide to make room for working on more Mrastrong material (hint: I think I have an LP title picked out with a solid track list.. )
Life is great, and I need to take time to enjoy it and continually gain the inspirational material to infuse into my music endeavors.
“Roll by Night”
Here’s a new deep and moody track, “Roll by Night”.
Works In Progress 9/2 Update
I’m excited to be writing this as I have just finished putting up the new SoundCloud profile and “Clips of Works In Progress” set.
Welcome to the world, mrastrong.
I hope this music finds your curiosity and livelihood well. I’ve found my way back to beats & trip-hop that exposes a big part of my inner workings. My excitement in being able to share this music with you is off the charts!
This set will be updated at least every other month or when I have some significant tracks in progress to share. These 2 minute (or longer) sections of tracks cover everything from early ideas to mid-production to near-complete works. Please let me know what you think, and if you enjoy the music be sure to share with friends & family and be on the look out for EPs and LPs!
Web Work
I’ve been working on transitioning my websites over to a new hosting solution. I decided to purchase a plan with ANHosting.com after reading many reviews of various hosting solutions out there. Thus far, I am VERY pleased with my decision and have no intention of taking advantage of their 30 day money back guarantee.
Sliptide.com is alive again, and I may or may not go back to some form of the previous design. I’m currently OK with the blog look that it has. I’m cleaning up a TON of the content and making the website more information-friendly for those who wish to learn more about the music I make and what “Sliptide” is up to.
I’m feeling as if this (mrastrong) will be the home of my new journal along with new music styles that will be released under this name. I’m not 100% sure that I will stick to the online journal thing again, but you can be sure to find some great new music under the ‘mrastrong’ name. Some limited test audiences have been responding very very positively to the new tunes and I couldn’t be happier! I have a lot of work to do before I can share them.. but knowing me I will get some clips up soon (and they may appear VERY soon in the “Sean Armstrong Monthly Sampler” project I’ve been doing all year on Sliptide’s page.
Good times abound as we move into fall! I’m certainly going to be busy, but the rewards are so worth the effort.
